From fashion and food to art and literature, music and cinema, Italian culture has a global presence well beyond the borders of Italy and spanning centuries. The Italian language is the key to fully unlocking and engaging with this rich and influential culture from the inside.
Courses in Italian take place in relatively small groups at all levels, which helps teachers follow your progress closely. St Andrews has particular expertise in:
- Italian literature from the 13th to the 21st centuries
- contemporary transnational Italian identities and material culture
- Italian cinema in the 20th and 21st centuries
- Renaissance and Reformation intellectual culture
- colonial and postcolonial Italy
- Italian migration and diaspora.
