Catered halls have a number of kitchens, kitchenettes and pantries which are available for you to make light snacks and meals.
Communal kitchens in self-catered residences (Fife Park, David Russell Apartments and Agnes Blackadder Hall) contain:
- fridge and freezer
- electric cooker
- kettle
- steam iron and ironing board
- clothes airer (Fife Park and David Russell Apartments only)
- pots and pans
- basin, cutlery tray and sink tidy
- dustpan and brush, broom, mop and bucket, and vacuum cleaner
- flip top bin.
It is recommended that all students – including those in catered accommodation – have a small selection of kitchenware, including cutlery, crockery, saucepans, cooking utensils and tea towels. Some students choose to wait to buy these items until they arrive in St Andrews to save on shipping costs. This also allows students to club together with their neighbours to save money.
Students are allowed to bring UK-purchased kitchen equipment to be used and stored in the kitchen only, subject to space available.
