Career Management Team
The Career Management Team includes careers advisers and information officers.
Careers advisers are experienced at advising students and graduates on many career-related topics. These might include career direction, diversity and equality (including disability-related issues), postgraduate study, or advice on applications, and interviews. Each adviser has sector and school-based specialisms.
Deputy Director
Jim Campbell
Jim has responsibility to support the Director of Careers in the day-to-day running of the Careers Centre, and to provide strategic advice and support, particularly in relation to issues affecting careers services at national level and in the HE sector. Additionally, he delivers careers advice, guidance and education for students in the Business School.
Jim has worked in the higher education sector since 1998 in a variety of universities and roles, namely Lancaster (Careers Adviser), Stirling (Careers Service Manager), Glasgow (International Careers Adviser), Abertay (Student Services Manager) and now St Andrews. Throughout that time, he has been active within the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (AGCAS). He served on its Board of Directors from 2007 to 2010 and is currently a member of its Internationalisation Task Group.

Team Manager (Career Management Team)
Amy Kinsman
Amy has over ten years of experience in higher education and recruitment, working at both the University of Stirling and Newcastle University. She is a dedicated careers professional with a strong enthusiasm for coaching and supporting students, colleagues, and graduates in reaching their full potential.
Amy is an ILM Level 3 qualified coach and has completed the AdvanceHE Aurora Leadership programme, further enhancing her leadership skills. She brings her coaching expertise to empower her team and enhance service delivery. Amy has led initiatives like peer-to-peer mentoring and championed professional development within her team. She also plays a key role outside the institution as Co-Chair of AGCAS Social Mobility Scotland, advocating for equal opportunities in education.
Amy is committed to fostering a culture of innovation, teamwork, and continuous growth within CMT, ensuring tailored career support to help students and graduates navigate their career paths successfully.
Amy is the Careers Adviser for the School of Modern Languages and the Graduate School.

Joshua Crofts
Josh is one of our careers advisers and works with the Schools of Classics, English, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Geography and Sustainable Development, and Philosophical, Anthropological and Film Studies. He is also jointly responsible for delivering research postgraduate and early career contract research staff careers provision, and for overseeing the University's Spotlight Award.
Previously, Josh worked at the University as an Information Officer within the Careers Centre and as a Web Content Editor and Trainer within Digital Communications.
Josh was awarded a BA (Hons) in Ancient History and Greek in 2013 from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David and an MLitt in Greek in 2014 from St Andrews, completing his PhD in Classics at St Andrews in 2022. He is currently completing a PGDip in Career Education, Information and Guidance in Higher Education at the University of Warwick.

Philip Ireland
Philip is one of our careers advisers and works with the Schools of Chemistry, Mathematics and Statistics, and Physics and Astronomy, as well as the International Education Institute. Philip is also jointly responsible for overseeing careers support for postgraduate students and early career contract research staff.
Before joining the Careers Centre, Philip studied Physics at St Andrews at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, receiving his PhD in 2019.

Ricky Shek
Ricky is one of our careers advisers and works with the Schools of Computer Science, Biology, History, Medicine, and Art History.
Ricky graduated from the University of Dundee, gaining his undergraduate degree BSc (Hons) Business Management in 2013 and completing his postgraduate degree MSc Applied Computing in 2017. He worked at the Careers Service at Abertay University as their Employer Liaison Officer before joining the University of St Andrews Careers Centre in 2022.

Sarah Winter
Sarah is one of our careers advisers and works with the Schools of Divinity, International Relations, and Psychology and Neuroscience. She focuses on Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion, and also manages our group career support programme.
Sarah began her professional journey in the legal sector, with roles in London, Paris, and Melbourne. She brings valuable experience from her work on the management boards of educational charities. In 2024, Sarah graduated with distinction in PgDip in Career Guidance and Development, earning the Edinburgh Napier course medal for outstanding performance.
Information Officer and CV Adviser
Tracey Dall
Tracey is responsible for the overall management and updating of the Careers Centre website. She manages, develops, and updates all careers information resources and subscriptions. Tracey organises and coordinates service promotion events, including visiting days and other university events. Tracey is also part of a cross-service team providing reception cover and frontline services.
In her role as a CV Adviser, Tracey provides guidance to students and recent graduates on creating effective CVs, cover letters and LinkedIn profiles.
Information Officer (Student Engagement)
Alistair Kerr
Alistair's role focuses on raising awareness of the Careers Centre, promoting its services, and engaging audiences. He plans and delivers campaigns to support the career development of students and alumni, ensuring data-driven strategies. He also provides reception cover and frontline services.
